Peer to peer Flat Plan assessment

Within the group that i was in, i was told that my flat plan could have had more sound within the film, i agree with this but i will decide closer to the time on what kind of music/soundtracks i would like to put into it, i was also told that i need more titles to say who wrote and directed it, this i will also incorporate into my actual moving image piece and change the colour of the already existing titles to further fit the genre.

Audience Research - Primary

I conducted some primary audience research in order to:
  • -find out what appeals to my target audience
  • -to discover any flaws or potential improvements that could be made to my film genre
  • -to identify any gaps in the market and place a refreshing new twist on the genre

This is the chosen product that i have conducted my research on.
These are the questions i have asked my sample:
-What encouraged you to keep watching, if it did?
-Did you find it scary? If so why?
-What made it effective, if you found it so?
-What did you like about it, if anything?
-Did it look like a horror? Why?

From the research I did with a selective sample & from my target audience, I found that :
-The start of silent hill wasn't very appealing to a younger audience
-The introduction disequilibrium was confusing and not very clear
-It wasn't scary but the dark opening was a conventional feature of horror.
-They didn't like much about it, it wasn't very scary for a horror opening with a disequilibrium at the start.
-They didn't find anything effective.

Below is a list of stylist decisions I'll try to make for my product following my audience feedback.
-Made the opening disequilibrium clear
-Follow the conventional horror features
-Make the audience question what is happening
-Make the antagonist's/protagonist's clear

Research into a potential target audience - secondary

http://business.pearlanddean.com/films_guide_details/6295/gone-2012 -- 'Gone (2012)'
-- Comparable Film is 'The Lovely Bones' --
Accessed on 20/01/2012

These two films are of a similar genre (Horror/Thriller) of my film and therefore the target audiences should be fairly similar. This research will affect my next piece of audience research by highlighting a main target audience's.

Textual Analysis & Research into Similar Products, Institutions & Distribution

This research has determined what typical conventional horror features my film opening will consist of, it has influenced my work by signifying what features i will put into my film such as the ominous opening of Silent Hill, or the calm opening of Eden Lake.

- My media piece is aimed at 16-18 college students, to attract them i have used the name and colors of the college.
-If i was to compare this magazine to a professional magazine cover, id say id have a long way to go, i haven't used enough sell lines nor skyline.
-To relate my magazine to my target audience I have used college students on the front cover so they they know what the magazine is about, just the same as 'Men's Health' have used David Beckham
-Through the process of making this front cover I have learned to use the Apple Mac's, the photography equipment, how to compose a photo properly. I think next time I'd prefer to use a white back ground because i think it would be easier to compose a front cover and a contents page.
